On 9 December 2010, the European Network of Agricultural Social Protection Systems (ENASP), borne in 2005 and chaired by the French MSA, gathered its members on the occasion of its Plenary Assembly and 5th anniversary.
The morning works were dedicated to internal business, a feedback on the network’s 5 first years of activity was done and 2010 activity report and 2011 strategy were adopted. Moreover, Finland, France and Poland presented their respective reforms on pensions.
In the afternoon a large public was invited to the conference regarding farmers poverty which was presented in the framework of the 2010 European Year “combating poverty and social exclusion”. The emphasis was placed on the launching of a study regarding Finnish, French and Polish farmers, study carried out in cooperation with the European think tank Notre Europe. The speakers’ panel was composed of representatives of the European commission, social partners, NGOs who testified and worked together on the implementation of tools aiming at reducing this plague. Introductive and conclusive speeches were done by both Mr. Nallet and Mr. Pelhate who stressed the important role that social and agricultural actors can have in the sensitization of the European stakeholders regarding the emergency of this situation.
In 2011, works will continue and November has already been set for the next annual appointment.
