With the launch of the campaign "eliminate risk - safety when driving and transport-ing", the two years to come will be focussed specifically on the risky work in the sphere of agriculture. Thus public awareness must be raised regarding safer driving and transportation in agriculture. This was pointed out by Mr. Leo Blum, Chairman of the Board of the Head Institution of Social Insurance in Agriculture, on the occasion of the Social Evening which took place in Berlin on 19. January 2010.

Approximately 20 per cent of all accidents that are notified by the agricultural profes-sional associations happen in traffic and on transportation routes. According to Mr. Blum, this underlines the importance of transportation in agriculture and it is becom-ing more and more an economic factor. The awareness of owners and operators must be raised so that they recognize especially dangerous transport situations and improve them. This also applies to agriculture and to the commercial sphere of trans-portation. In Mr. Blum’s opinion, this campaign “eliminate risk”, which is organised together with the commercial professional associations and the accident funds, will set a mile-stone, in order to make driving and transporting safer nationwide.
